In a real nail-biter the young Dartmouth team overcame a sluggish scoreless first half to beat Cornell in double overtime 20-17. Cornell won it’s first two games but had lost 5 in a row coming into Hanover. Kyle opened some massive holes for running backs and pulled defenders out wide to make way for a scrambling Freshman QB Greg Patton who rushed for almost 240 yds. Dartmouth blocked a Cornell field goal at the end of regulation play to force their opponent into overtime. The Big Green had two holding penaties in the 2nd OT but with 3rd down and 35 their passing QB Conner Kempe (it was his Birthday— his Mom had a sign) completed a pass to put the team in field goal range. Foley Schmidt put Dartmouth ahead with a 40 yd Field Goal. After that with the crowd on their feet, Cornell failed to get a first down and their field goal attempt was wide, giving Dartmouth the win.
The Cooks, Nicole. Me and the FANS went WILD!
